Gewurztraminer from Bulgarian Thrace

the Bulgarian-Italian cooperation Wine

  1. Edoardo Miroglio EOOD, Sant 'Ilia Gewurztraminer, 2009, Region: Lowland Tracka strain: Gewurztraminer, Country: Bulgaria;
    Italy's Edoardo Miroglio invested in vineyards situated near the village of Elenovo more than 22 million Euros. Or so he says. Everytime I hear of similar investments, I regret a little that there was no native, who embarked on a similar step, allowing the wine to remain Elenova like "more Bulgarian." Moreover, foreign investment does not only apply to Bulgaria. I am not a nationalist, of course, wine, and only, as I described it, an avid supporter of the Central European winemaking.
  2. Appearance: bright lemon with a slight greenish reflection. On the walls of tiny glass bubbles showing that yeast with sugar rozprawiały even after zakorkowaniu bottle (secondary fermentation). Work performed very carefully, because the wine, and after a while I see, just the lack of unfermented sugar;
  3. Nose: Semi-Intensive, lemon. When I was about to hail the Bulgarians invented lemon Gewurztraminer, the wine began to take clear, so characteristic of the variety, flavors of lychee and flowers. After 5 minutes of "invention" was not much. And when it seemed that the nose has nothing surprise, broke through a fragrant aroma of ripe pears;
  4. Taste: greasy, oily in the mouth. Lychee, papaya and a bunch of flowers. Taste is in your mouth for a long minute;
  5. Price: € 9. The greatest advantage of Sant 'Ilia think dynamic, changing nose. It was interesting, and sometimes even surprising, what with Gewurztraminerze is not easy. The taste has been without such fireworks, but were some well without any trouble. Bulgarian Gewurztraminer, but probably niewybitny, is at least solid.
Bulgaria If someone is still fixated with Sophia, it is high time to change it. Bulgarians produce a lot of interesting wines at still quite positive, although more Unfortunately, higher, prices. The most interesting, in my opinion, are a powerful taninowo-alcoholic wine, made from such varieties as Mavrud, Melnik, Cabernet Sauvignon, or a little lighter treats - Merlot.
